Overview
This yacht spent her first ten years in the fresh, pristine waters of the Great Lakes. She was berthed in a private boat house, and lifted by a cradle, out of the water. Most times she is berthed in Tennessee under cover. While mainly enjoying the lakes and rivers, she has also traveled 20% of the time to the Atlantic, Florida and the Bahamas.
What ranks this 53’ Tollycraft above the rest? First, it is a Tolly, the finest of classical yachts. This yacht has many custom features. The custom-designed $60,000 hardtop is enclosed with 60 gauge Strataglas, It is one of a kind. The radar tower and running/anchor lights are hinged, and can be lowered to get under low bridges. It is equipped with a Matrix 600 GPH water maker. The solar array charges the batteries and significantly reduces generator run time allowing one to be self-sufficient at anchor or dock. Most lights were converted to LED bulbs, including the interior, anchor, and the navigation lights. Underwater LED transom lights brighten the water. All salon and pilot house furniture was reupholstered with SUNBRELLA INTERIOR FABRICS in 2015. Bali wood blinds were installed 2015. In 2015 all four reverse air/cooling units were replaced. The galley countertops are granite. The full beam master berth has a Sleep Number queen, walk-around bed. Oceanaire screens and shades cover the hatches. This yacht has the largest salon found on a 53’ vessel with plenty of headroom. Below decks, are twin 8v92 TA Detroit Diesels. It boasts a Pre-oiler system for pre-startup and post-shutdown engine protection.
Boarding the roomy cockpit, you enter the big, full beam well-appointed salon, then the sparkling galley and pilot house station. The helm is centered, giving great all-around visibility. Even both stern corners are visible from the helm station when backing into a slip. A starboard door with screen leads to the fly-bridge or to the bow deck. The flight of stairs leads to the 3 berths, 2 heads, and laundry. Some owners convert the smaller berth to an office. Storage space, drawers, closets abound.
Or you could enter the cockpit and descent to the large lazarette and to the engine room. Besides the twin Detroit Diesels, is a 18.5 kw Kohler/Yanmar generator, Matrix water maker, engine Air-Seps, and an oil change pump system. For batteries there are one generator starting, two 8-D engine starting and twelve living system batteries and ample storage for anything else. Another boarding option is from either port or starboard side on the MarQuipt stainless steel boarding ladder.
